Service Date vs. Payment Date

When submitting a claim, it is very important to understand the difference between the service date and the payment date of your expense.

  • When processing a claim, we require the service date which is the date the service was done. Sometimes this is differs from the date of payment. An example of this would be a dental procedure where the dental office has allowed you to make a pre-payment for a procedure to help spread out the costs. In this case, we require the date that the procedure was performed in order to process the claim along with proof of payment.

  • It is important to note that we don't process claims for pre-payments until the service has been performed, so hold onto all your receipts until the procedure has been completed.
