Olympia Financial Group Inc. (OFGI) is pleased to announce that it has been selected as one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers for 2016.

This is an outstanding honour, as OFGI competed against very strong organizations across the country in being selected for this award.

Now entering its 4th year, Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers is an editorial competition that recognizes the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that offer the nation’s best workplaces and forward-thinking human resources policies.

To be considered a "Small or Medium Enterprise", a company must meet two conditions: have less than 500 employees worldwide, including employees at any affiliated companies; and be a commercial, for-profit enterprise (i.e., non-profit organizations don't meet the definition.)

The selection is process is governed by eight criteria, consisting of:

(1) Physical workplace

(2) Work atmosphere & social environment

(3) Health, financial & family benefits

(4) Vacation & time off

(5) Employee communications

(6) Performance management

(7) Training & skills development

(8) Community involvement

Some of the reasons as to why Olympia Financial Group Inc. was selected as one of Canada's Top Small & Medium Employers (2016), include:

  • Olympia Financial Group Inc. helps employees save for the future through a defined contribution pension plan -- and also helps to create an ownership culture through profit-sharing and a share purchase plan available to all employees.
  • Olympia Financial Group Inc. maintains a flexible health benefits plan that allows employees to customize levels of coverage according to their personal needs.
  • Olympia Financial Group Inc. encourages employees to support their wider community with one paid volunteer day each year as well as matching financial donations (up to $100 per year).

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Olympia Financial Group Inc. conducts most of its operations through its wholly-owned subsidiary Olympia Trust Company, a non-deposit taking trust company. Olympia Trust Company is licensed to conduct trust activities in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Olympia Trust Company administers self-directed registered accounts and offers foreign currency exchange services. OFGI also offers private health services plans through its wholly-owned subsidiary Olympia Benefits Inc. and operates an ATM business through its wholly-owned subsidiary Olympia ATM Inc.
